Program Notes

Sound, as a natural element, is like any raw material. Depending on its fundamental qualities, it can be warped, morphed, and shaped into most imaginable forms. This why the idea of a forge and the comparison of natural sounds to raw metal sparks my imagination. I love to think that the forge where these tools and weapons of music are being created, is in fact nature itself.

This piece was originally a theory assignment to design a melody that began off the tonic. This chamber version premiered on Saturday, January 24th, 2015 at Campus Chapel in Ann Arbor, MI.
